Mother Shucker’s Oyster Sauce of Columbia, SC is a female created and owned business. She and her son grew up in a small town located a few hours north of the South Carolina border and a short distance from the coast.
Their story begins with the son being impressed by a local oyster bar and restaurant, which led him to open his own oyster bar more than ten years ago in the Vista downtown area of Columbia.
The Oyster Bar is best described as a coastal experience where the shuckers work on the other side of the bar to shuck fresh oysters for diners. His mother developed a company producing the sauce that got its start at wholesale food shows, and is now available in select retail stores in the Carolinas. The proprietary sauce’s award winning flavor won the 2010 Best Condiment Award in Atlanta’s Americas Mart for the “Best Condiment.”
The Support Center is working with both the mother and son in their prospective businesses to secure funding.
